PLUG City Highlights Shows
PLUG has been busy on the road this year as well. PLUG City Highlights shows focus on emerging artists performing in their local music communities. Most recently PLUG and OurStage.com teamed up to present sold out shows @ PLUG Miami (featuring the legendary Avenue D and OurStage.com Miami contest winner Jaylynn Coffin - check video clip below) and PLUG Chicago (featuring PLUG nominee Holy Fuck w/ A Place To Bury Strangers, Airiel and OurStage.com Chicago contest winner Stanley Ross). More PLUG CH shows will be announced after the awards in March.
Performing before a sold out crowd were nominees Tokyo Police Club (Song Of The Year and New Artist Of The Year), Deerhoof (Live Act Of The Year), El-P (Record Producer Of The Year), Silversun Pickups (7 nominations) and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Malkmus accepted The Plug Impact Award for his contribution to independent music through his prolific career in Pavement, Silver Jews and his solo work.
David Cross was an amazing master of ceremonies who oversaw everything from marching bands (who opened the night with the PLUG 2007 Song Of The Year - "The Funeral" by Band Of Horses) to barbershop quartets, 12 foot puppets, (the fated) iPod battles, and a never-to-be-forgotten parody of In The Actor's Studio With James Lipton featuring David as a bearded "Jimmy J.J. Lipton" In The Musician's Studio with Stephen Malkmus. David quizzed Malkmus on Malkmus for 15 minutes as part of the presentation for Stephen's Artist Impact Award.
Unlike traditional award shows, each artist at PLUG performs 20-40 minute mini-sets on stage. And as a "THANKS" to fans this year who have overwhelmed us their PLUG votes, the show was only $10.

Mrs. Yancey (J-Dilla's Mom)
After learning her son had been voted (by all of you) the PLUG 2007 Artist Of The Year, the late J Dilla's mom, Mrs. Yancey, sat down with us in Detroit and graciously opened up about her son, his life, his music, his legacy and her gratitude to his all fans and especially those who voted to see him receive this award. We thank her.
PLUG Night on MTV2’s Subterranean (includes David’s comedy bits)
Subterranean devoted their last VJ episode to the PLUG Awards 2007. Check the pre-show interview with David Cross & Jim Shearer as well as several of David's bits on stage that night.
ManiaTV @ PLUG
ManiaTV did an amazing job putting this together. Hosted by Christy from The Daily Independent, it includes live interviews and performances from all the night's artists and host. Also includes videos from all the 2007 PLUG Music Video Of The Year nominees.

Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Tokyo Police Club
Throughout 2006 and leading up to the February 2007 show PLUG was busy teaming up with PLUG voters & promoters in cities all over North America to showcase local artists and to celebrate local music scenes that are as vibrant and realized as anything the media obsesses over on the coasts (although we went there too).
The series is called the PLUG City Highlights Tour and so far we’ve gone to Austin, Toronto, Miami, Brooklyn, Detroit, LA,
San Francisco and Portland. For more info on upcoming PLUG City Highlight shows and how to bring one to your town go to http://plug.imeem.com.
